Leaving Lo Debar - Session #3
This 3rd Week of Leaving Lo Debar we will discuss the unexpected season of darkness caused by circumstances that come against us. It is vitally important during these times that we focus not on our circumstances but on our Deliverer.
Chapter #3: Our Deliverer from the Darkness of Lo Debar-It’s Nobody’s Fault
The author talks about two verses of scripture that became very dear to her and she embraced them as her “battle cry”: Micah 7:7-8. Discuss why these verses would be excellent to hold on to during times of hardship.
Micah 6:8 gives some simple truths to remember especially in seasons of darkness….discuss how these truths would help during those stressful periods of life.
The author also mentioned that Micah 7:7 simply translated says “We are either up or getting up. We will not stay down.” How important is it to have this type of mindset when the enemy is doing all he can to keep you down?
Note the “I will’s” of Micah 7:7. What are they?
What is the difference in hope and expectation? Do we need one over the other?
Darkness can cause us to focus on the unknown—the “what ifs.” Instead of focusing on the “What if” what can we focus on?
During our “season of darkness” we must be still and wait…..how hard is it for you to be still and wait? Discuss what this means.
Zephaniah 3:17 is a beautiful and comforting verse. It is to remind you that God’s love is present to quiet you and bring you comfort. He is assuring you that he is present in your season of darkness. How does it make you feel to know that God is singing over you like a mother who soothes her restless child?
***Remember child of God, instead of focusing on the “what if” focus on “He will”! Wait with hope and expectancy and you will not be disappointed. Next week we will discuss darkness caused by compromise when we settle in Lo Debar…see you then!
